In the 16th Century Guanajuato was the richest city in Mexico due to its silver mines, discovered by the Spanish from 1548 onwards, which today serve as a great tourist attraction for the area. On our trip we visit one of these silver mines, as well as a tour of the city centre and its impressive architecture, the unique underground tunnel system, the mummy museum and much more! We then head on into San Miguel de Allende, famous for its excellent climate and its beautifully kept city centre, as well as being another city on the ‘Route of Independence’. Another one of Mexico’s ‘Pueblos Mágicos’ (magic towns), San Miguel de Allende is a must see! On this four day, three night trip, we spend the first two nights in Guanajuato, and the third in San Miguel de Allende, returning to Melaque on day four, via Guadalajara, Colima and Manzanillo (people may be collected and dropped off at any of these places).
